Honours is an extremely valuable year of study. It comprises advanced 400-level coursework and an individual research project designed to extend students' knowledge and skills. In particular, the honours programs offered by the Faculty of Science aim to enable students to define and solve problems relating to their specialty and to conduct research in the field. Honours graduates possess the skills and qualifications needed to progress to a higher degree (e.g. Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy), or to enter the science and technology industries. Bachelor of Science (Honours) disciplines available The Faculty of Science offers Bachelor of Science (Honours) programs in a wide range of disciplines including: Anatomy and cell biology; applied statistics; biochemistry and molecular biology; botany; chemistry; computer science; Earth sciences; engineering; genetics; geography and environmental studies; history and philosophy of science; mathematics and statistics; medical biology; medicine*; microbiology and immunology; optometry and vision sciences; oral biology (dental science); hearing sciences (otolaryngology); paediatrics; pathology; pharmacology; physics; physiology; psychiatry; psychology; surgery* and zoology.
